Senior Private Banker
Cyril Simmons brings close to 20 years of specialised expertise to Clarien Private Wealth, including a broad range of senior banking roles in Global Asset and Investment Management. He began his career with Bank of Bermuda (now HSBC) in 1999 and worked in various divisions within the bank including Credit Risk Management and Investor Relations. He spent six years within the Business Development team at HSBC Global Asset Management, where he supported the Corporate Banking division with institutional sales of global investment solutions. He joined the Corporate Banking division in 2010 and eventually became the Head of the Captive and Insurance Banking team. In 2015, he joined Clarien’s Private Wealth division as a Senior Private Banker. Cyril holds a BA (Hons) in philosophy from Morehouse College, Atlanta.
Senior Private Banker
Born and raised in Bermuda, Nancy Stevens holds a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce from Mount Alison University, Canada. She joined Clarien after working in a relationship management role with a local private bank. Meeting the requirements of a discerning universe of high net worth individuals, private trusts and companies, Nancy offers a solid academic breadth to the team and a dedication to the delivery of stellar client service. She passed her Series 7 designation and STEP Foundation in 2009 and CAMS in 2017, and is presently pursuing the CFP designation.
Mark Darko joined Clarien Bank with London-based experience, primarily in Asset Management. He holds a BA (Hons) degree in Business Management from Westminster University, UK. Following a 10-year career in banking, Mark relocated to Bermuda with his family, working within the Risk Solutions sector at the Bermuda Business Development Agency (BDA). His focus was specifically on captive insurance, healthcare, cyber and the ILS market. He was also the committee secretary for the Bermuda Captive Conference from 2016-2017. Recently, he joined Clarien’s Private Wealth division as a Private Banker.
Shakira Smith-Caines has over 16 years of banking experience in the local market. Her career started at Bank of Bermuda (now known as HSBC) in 1998, in Customer Service and then Credit Risk Management. In 2001, Shakira joined Capital G Bank Ltd., holding various positions within the organization such as Collections Officer, Private Banking Administrator, Relationship Management and Financial Service Officer. In 2008, an opportunity was presented to Shakira to oversee the Financial Service and Retail Sector at First Bermuda Group Ltd., where she held that position for three years prior to the merger of Capital G Bank Ltd. and First Bermuda Group Ltd. in early 2011. Shakira is actively pursuing her STEP Foundation Certificate and Diploma in International Trust Management.
