Melissa Buckley Pridham

Vice President, Personal Banking

Melissa Buckley Pridham is a proven leader and collaborator, a diligent and determined professional with a diverse background in communications and public relations and a passion for client service.

Prior to joining Clarien Bank in 2015, Melissa gained four years of retail experience with Wicker Emporium in Halifax, Nova Scotia. As public relations consultant, she guided the firm’s strategic communications planning, led the rebuild of a suite of communications products, secured national television exposure and led media coaching of upper management.

Between 2011 and 2012, Melissa also held fundraising and media management responsibilities as public relations consultant on the committee to elect Tom Martin as Mayor of Halifax.

From 2010 to 2014, she also owned and acted as general manager for MODA urban dining. In this capacity, she acquired valuable leadership experience in strategic planning, finance and human resource management.

Melissa served as a marketing intern with Ernst & Young in Bermuda in 2007 and 2008. She also held internship posts with ACE, HSBC and Deloitte in the summer of 2006. Melissa earned an Advanced Diploma in Public Relations from Halifax’s Eastern College in 2010. In 2009, she received her Bachelor of Business Management from Dalhousie University.

Shakira Smith-Caines

Manager, Personal Banking

Shakira Smith-Caines has over 16 years of banking experience in the local market.  Her career started at Bank of Bermuda (now known as HSBC) in 1998, in Customer Service and then Credit Risk Management.  In 2001, Shakira joined Capital G Bank Ltd., holding various positions within the organization such as Collections Officer, Private Banking Administrator, Relationship Management and Financial Service Officer.  In 2008, an opportunity was presented to Shakira to oversee the Financial Service and Retail Sector at First Bermuda Group Ltd., where she held that position for three years prior to the merger of Capital G Bank Ltd. and First Bermuda Group Ltd. in early 2011. Shakira is actively pursuing her STEP Foundation Certificate and Diploma in International Trust Management.


Personal Banker

Joining the Clarien team in 2008, Sonia has more than four decades of banking experience on the Island. She began her career at Butterfield Bank, later moving to Bank of Bermuda, where she worked in a variety of roles. Sonia’s experience is wide-ranging, having held roles such as a Corporate Trust Administrator, an Internet Service Representative, and a Customer Service Representative, among others. Sonia’s passion for serving her clients, and ensuring that they have positive experiences, has always been evident.

As a Personal Banker at Clarien, Sonia has continued with that passion for providing excellent service to her clients, while also collaborating with other Banking units to assist in the cultivation and deepening of banking relationships and providing assistance and referrals when needed. She also engages with and supports clients with using self-service options, in alignment with Clarien’s digital strategies; and manages risk by ensuring regulatory requirements are met when onboarding and transacting with clients.
