Shana Williams brings a wealth of Bermuda banking experience to Clarien. She served in various roles at Butterfield Bank in Hamilton from 2005 to 2014, most recently as Assistant VP, Business Continuity Manager. In this role, she managed all disaster recovery planning for Butterfield’s Bermuda office.
She also designed and directed disaster recovery tests in conjunction with Hewlett Packard and the bank’s Cayman office to evaluate all primary applications. Shana served as Butterfield’s Assistant VP, Operations Manager, from 2009 to 2013. Her responsibilities included management of all operational aspects of Butterfield’s Bermuda banking division, which includes five retail branches, retail banking administration and the bank’s call centre. She also managed Bermuda banking’s operational risks and provided guidance on compliance and regulatory matters.
Between 2008 and 2009, Shana was Butterfield’s Retail Operations Manager, a position in which she designed and implemented a business continuity plan and monitored operational risks. As a bank auditor from 2006 to 2008, Shana was responsible for organisational, financial and operational audits of various bank departments. Shana holds a Certificate in Principles of Banking from the American Bankers Association, as well as an honours BA in Sociology and Anthropology from Mount Saint Vincent University.
Head of Lending
Karen Brown has more than 20 years of financial services experience in Bermuda, including 10 with Clarien (formerly Capital G). She has been Head of Lending since 2013, overseeing management of all loan portfolios and serving on the bank’s Credit Committee.
From 2010 to 2013, Karen headed the personal lending department, where she upheld the bank’s credit standard in originating and evaluating new loan proposals. As Senior Relationship Manager of Business Banking from 2008 to 2010, she managed a diverse lending portfolio of corporate, personal and trust clients.
During 2007 and 2008 she was Manager of Lending in the credit department; she joined the bank in 2004 as Senior Loan and Mortgage Officer. Between 1993 and 2004, Karen held various positions with Butterfield Bank, including Assistant VP, Corporate Banking, and Assistant VP and Unit Head, Business Banking.
Previously, her financial industry career included roles with Hemisphere Management and the Bermuda Treasury. She is accredited in financial accounting for lenders, and corporate credit analysis. Karen earned a Bachelor of Business Administration from Nova Scotia’s Mount Saint Vincent University in 2008, and an Associate in Business Administration from Bermuda College in 2004.
Vice President, Financial Services
Melissa Pridham is a proven leader and collaborator, a diligent and determined professional with a diverse background in communications and public relations and a passion for client service.
Prior to joining Clarien Bank in 2015, Melissa gained four years of retail experience with Wicker Emporium in Halifax, Nova Scotia. As public relations consultant, she guided the firm’s strategic communications planning, led the rebuild of a suite of communications products, secured national television exposure and led media coaching of upper management.
Between 2011 and 2012, Melissa also held fundraising and media management responsibilities as public relations consultant on the committee to elect Tom Martin as Mayor of Halifax.
From 2010 to 2014, she also owned and acted as general manager for MODA urban dining. In this capacity, she acquired valuable leadership experience in strategic planning, finance and human resource management.
Melissa served as a marketing intern with Ernst & Young in Bermuda in 2007 and 2008. She also held internship posts with ACE, HSBC and Deloitte in the summer of 2006. Melissa earned an Advanced Diploma in Public Relations from Halifax’s Eastern College in 2010. In 2009, she received her Bachelor of Business Management from Dalhousie University.
