Gary Brown

Director

Gary Brown is a seasoned banking executive and board director with more than four decades of experience leading international banking businesses and contributing to financial services governance, risk oversight and strategic leadership.

He currently serves as Lead Independent Director of National Commercial Bank Financial Group in Jamaica and chairs the Audit Committees of the Group and several of its operating subsidiaries. Prior to this, Gary served as Chief Executive Officer and Director of a leading Caribbean banking institution. He has previously served as the President and CEO of a Wall Street broker-dealer for nine years, and in his early career, he held a number of senior leadership positions across corporate banking, capital markets and risk management, including responsibility for large-scale banking operations and governance functions across North America and the Caribbean.

Gary brings extensive board and governance experience through service with financial institutions, educational organisations and industry bodies. His previous appointments include President of the New York Chapter of the Risk Management Association, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Mercy College, Trustee of Oral Roberts University, Trustee of the Institute of International Bankers and Director of the Foreign Policy Association in New York. He currently serves as Chairman of the Board of Mercy Ships International.

He holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Oral Roberts University and has completed executive programmes at the Salzburg Institute and Harvard Business School.
