Andrew Cassidy
VP, Head of Commercial Banking
Bermudian Andrew Cassidy brings more than 20 years’ experience in the financial services industry to Clarien’s Commercial Lending team and a proven record of successfully managing risk while growing local and international client relationships.
Prior to joining Clarien in March 2017, Andrew was a Senior Relationship Manager, Corporate & Commercial Lending for Scotiabank & Trust (Cayman) Limited in the Cayman Islands where he was responsible for managing a large corporate portfolio of more than 100 clients with credit facilities of US$250 million.
Previously, Andrew served as Vice President & Senior Relationship Manager with HSBC Bank (Cayman) Limited’s Commercial Banking department, having held a similar position with HSBC in Bermuda from 2007-2013. Prior to this, his previous roles at HSBC Bermuda included Merchant Services Manager, Electronic Banking and Fund Valuator, Corporate Trust Services. Before joining HSBC in 1997, he was treasurer for Bermuda Financial Network Ltd.
Andrew earned a Bsc. in Business Administration with a Major in Accounting from Drexel University, Philadelphia, and also holds a diploma in Business Administration from Bermuda College.
Florence Smith
VP, Head of Payments
Florence Smith works closely with the Chief Banking Officer, Chief Digital and Marketing Officer and other key stakeholders to build, execute and evaluate the product and service suite to support Clarien Bank’s eChannels, including Debit & Credit Cards, Merchant Acquiring, eCommerce and ATM infrastructures. She is responsible for building product lines and business understanding performance and increasing revenues for each product line.
Florence was previously Group Head, Vice President Head of Merchant Services at Butterfield Group with responsibility for Bermuda and the Cayman Islands, and was instrumental in the growth and profitability of the Bank’s merchant services portfolio. She has held progressively senior positions in banking and e-commerce industries and was among the first payment professionals to receive a Certified Payments Professional designation from the Washington D.C.-based Electronic Transaction Association (ETA). ETA is the international trade association representing more than 500 companies that offer electronic transaction processing products and services (companies include Apple, Amazon Google and PayPal).
Florence holds designations and diplomas in hotel management from the American Hotel and Motel Association and Bermuda College, and has served on the Business Technology Division of the Bermuda Chamber of Commerce.
Terrence Smart
Senior Relationship Manager
Terrence Smart is a seasoned investment and credit professional with a diverse background of institutional investing, fixed income portfolio management and trading skills. During his 30 year plus career, he has lent in excess of $4 billion to numerous industries including manufacturing, transportation, financial companies, service industries and commercial real estate. Formerly, he managed portfolios of private debt placements and large US corporate workouts at Equitable Life and asset based finance for mid-market sized companies at Citibank. He was also a Fixed Income Portfolio Manager at both GE Capital and Flagstone Re, where he had lead responsibility for choosing external managers and managing several multi-billion dollar portfolios of asset backed securities, derivative mortgage securities and corporate and sovereign bonds. He managed the Credit Team at Flagstone and his responsibilities, as part of the HSBC Bermuda Commercial Banking Credit Team, comprised the most complex transactions and the largest local and international Bermuda based clients and the reinsurance industry. He also has extensive experience trading commodity futures and designing models which predict expected market volatility.
He earned a BA in Economics from Fordham University, an MBA in Corporate Finance from Pace University and also completed CFA Level 1.
Crystal Botelho
Quality Assurance Manager
In her role as Quality Assurance Manager, Crystal Botelho is responsible for providing administrative support to the SVP Banking and Commercial Banking Team and assisting with the processing and completion of client requests and queries. She is responsible for the setup of new Commercial Banking client accounts and ensures that all required KYC documents are received. Crystal joined Clarien in September 2011 as Business Banking Administrator, having previously worked at First Bermuda Group as Loan Administrator.
She began her banking career in 2003 with Butterfield Bank as Vault/Insurance Administrator. Crystal graduated from Bermuda College with a Certificate in Office Assistance.
