Robert Almeida - Chairman
Robert Almeida is a private equity leader with a long-standing track record of building businesses and delivering strategic growth across the Caribbean and Latin America.
He is Managing Partner of Portland Private Equity, an institutional fund manager focused on investments in the Caribbean, Central America, and Andean regions. He also represents Portland’s interest as an investor in Clarien Group Limited and currently serves as Chairman of Clarien Bank’s Board of Directors.
Robert began his career in corporate transformation, overseeing a profit tripling strategy as Vice President of Development & Re-engineering at Loblaw Companies. He went on to launch President’s Choice Financial, serving as its first President. Since joining the Portland Group in 2002, he has played a key role in turning around National Commercial Bank of Jamaica and co-founding Columbus International, a telecommunications provider serving the wider region.
