Glenroy A. Smith - SVP, Head of Credit Risk Management

After consulting with Clarien Bank for close to a year, Glenroy A. Smith officially joined our team in March 2022 in the role of Head of Credit Adjudication, Credit Risk Management. In September 2023, he was promoted to SVP, Head of Credit Risk Management, responsible for ensuring Clarien’s long term business success through the effective management of credit risk exposures. He holds an Executive MBA from Mona School of Business & Management at the University of the West Indies. Additionally, he holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Business Administration and Certificate of Achievement from Jamaica Stock Exchange.

With over 30 years of banking experience, Glenroy has spent the last 22 years directly involved in varied aspects of Credit Risk Management and Strategic Leadership. In April 1990, he started his career as a teller, before progressing to more senior roles in Credit & Risk Management Divisions. Just prior to working at Clarien Bank, he was Senior Relationship Manager, Corporate & Commercial Banking at Scotiabank Jamaica Ltd. While there, he managed a portfolio of blue chip corporate accounts.

Currently responsible for shaping Clarien’s credit risk management philosophy, policies and standards, Glenroy works closely with management at all levels to embed a culture that identifies, manages and monitors credit risk exposures within Clarien’s risk appetite. He has been able to leverage past knowledge and experience – which includes working at National Commercial Bank Jamaica Ltd, Sagicor Bank Ltd and Scotiabank, to support us in creating an enhanced risk based culture and delivering meaningful value in Credit Portfolio Quality to clients.
