C. H. (Hal) Masters – Director

Clarendon Hugh (“Hal”) Masters is President and Director of Midsea Consulting Limited, and serves as an independent consultant in the financial services and corporate services industry.

Born in Bermuda, Mr. Masters earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree (BA) from Williams College, Williamstown, Massachusetts in 1981, a Masters Degree in Business Administration (MBA – Finance) from Babson College, Wellesley, Massachusetts in 1984, and attended the Western Executive Program at Ivey School of Business, University of Western Ontario, Canada in 1998. Mr. Masters began his professional career as a financial analyst with Butterfield Bank in 1984 and was appointed Senior Manager of Corporate Credit in 1994. In 1996, he transferred to the Bank’s London Branch in England to manage its Banking Division.

Upon his return to Bermuda in 1999, Mr. Masters was named a Vice President of the Bank and Managing Director of Butterfield Fund Services (Bermuda) Limited (“BFS”), a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Bank, in which capacity he served until December 2001, and was retained by BFS as a Marketing Consultant until BFS was acquired by the Fulcrum Group. In 2002, Mr. Masters founded Midsea Consulting and in 2003 was elected to the Royal Chartered Institute of Directors (MIoD).

In addition to his consulting services to financial services companies, Mr. Masters serves as a director for various financial institutions, hedge funds and fund of funds as well as a trustee for various private trusts.
